On October 25, 2023, Pertubuhan BIM Malaysia co-hosted the JKR BIM Day event, held at the Sime Darby Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with the Integrated Asset Planning Branch (CPAB). The event, which attracted approximately 700 participants, brought together JKR officials, government agencies, industry professionals, and academics. The Director-General of Public Works, YBhg. Datuk Ir Ahmad Redza bin Ghulam Rasool, graciously officiated the opening ceremony, marking the beginning of a successful gathering.
Throughout the event, attendees engaged in a series of insightful presentations and discussions. The Knowledge Arena and Project Showcase featured 17 expert speakers, with Ronan Collins from HSS Engineers delivering the keynote address. Additionally, 24 companies showcased the latest advancements in BIM and 4IR (Fourth Industrial Revolution) technologies. Two books, “Building Better with BIM,” a collaboration between JKR and USM, and “JKR BIM Report RMK11,” produced by the CPAB BIM Unit, were also launched, adding further value to the program. The event culminated in the presentation of the JKR BIM Awards, recognizing the achievements of industry leaders, JKR officials, and students.
The day concluded with a thought-provoking forum titled “The Evolution of Traditional Roles in Digital Transformation,” featuring four expert panels. This discussion emphasized the role of BIM and 4IR technologies in transforming traditional practices within the construction industry. Pertubuhan BIM Malaysia is proud to have contributed to this successful initiative and remains committed to supporting the digital transformation of Malaysia’s construction sector, ensuring that stakeholders are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to implement BIM effectively in upcoming projects.
