PBM Proposes Key BIM Reforms at Dialogue with Works Minister

PBM actively participated in a high-level Dialogue Session with the Minister of Works, presenting three major proposals to accelerate BIM implementation in Malaysia. The organisation also briefed the Ministry on an upcoming national seminar aimed at expanding BIM across government projects.

Pertubuhan BIM Malaysia (PBM) was among the key industry bodies invited to a Dialogue Session with the Minister of Works, where pressing issues in the construction sector were discussed, including diesel subsidies, Variation of Price (VOP), IBS, and Building Information Modelling (BIM).

During the session, PBM presented three strategic proposals to support the government’s digitalisation agenda:

  • The development of local BIM software to strengthen the national ecosystem,

  • A National Data Centre for secure asset data sharing, and

  • The establishment of a standardised BIM services payment scale to ensure fair compensation across the industry.

Following the session, PBM met with Datuk Seri Hj Hasnol Zam Zam Bin Hj Ahmad, Secretary General of the Ministry of Works, to provide a briefing on the upcoming Seminar on the Expansion of BIM Implementation in Government Development and Asset Management Projects, scheduled for 29 August 2024.

The seminar will convene 139 senior government officers from multiple ministries and agencies, following the Prime Minister’s announcement during the National Development Action Council (MTPN) Meeting on 7 June 2024, calling for BIM adoption to be extended across both public and private sector projects.

PBM continues to play an active role in shaping national BIM policy and advancing Malaysia’s construction industry through digital innovation.
