Pertubuhan BIM Malaysia (PBM) was honored to participate in the prestigious JKR Sarawak Gala Dinner 2024, held on 9 December. The organization was invited to open a booth at the event, thanks to the initiative and support of our dedicated JKR Sarawak members – Mr. Kevin, Mr. Haziq, and Mrs. Jessie.

The PBM delegation was led by Deputy Chairman Ir. Ahmad Ridzuan, Assistant Chairman II Ir. Ts. Mohd Faiz, Secretary Mr. Iyas Mahzan, and Sarawak Committee Member Mr. Ridzhan, along with Honorary Member Ts. Muhammad Khairi and other enthusiastic PBM members from Sarawak.

A key highlight of the evening was the visit by YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Hj Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Hj Abang Openg, Premier of Sarawak, to the PBM booth. During the visit, Mr. Iyas Mahzan briefed the Premier on PBM’s mission and progress. In his keynote, the Premier emphasized the strategic importance of Building Information Modelling (BIM), announcing that BIM will be mandatory for Sarawak building projects above RM10 million and infrastructure projects above RM100 million — a move strongly supported by PBM.

PBM also had the privilege of extending an invitation to Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. Dr. Cassidy Anak Morris, Director of JKR Sarawak, to become an Honorary Member of PBM. We are delighted to share that he accepted the invitation, and we look forward to formalizing his appointment.

In a significant development the following morning, PBM signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Teknovasi X to establish a BIM Training Centre in Sarawak. The MoU was signed by PBM Secretary Mr. Iyas Mahzan, witnessed by PBM Honorary Member Ts. Muhammad Khairi and Teknovasi X CEO Mr. Tim Sin. This partnership marks a major milestone in PBM’s efforts to expand BIM training and adoption across East Malaysia.

PBM extends heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to these achievements. We remain committed to shaping the future of digital construction in Malaysia through collaboration, innovation, and community.
