PBM–BSI BIM Competition 2025 Strengthens Regional BIM Leadership

Jointly organised by Pertubuhan BIM Malaysia and British Standards Institution, the inaugural PBM–BSI BIM Competition 2025 drew 25 teams from Malaysia and Indonesia, advancing ISO 19650 adoption.

The PBM–BSI BIM Competition 2025 (Industry Category) marked the first collaborative competition between PBM and BSI, aimed at strengthening industry readiness in implementing ISO 19650 across complex projects.

Jointly organised by Pertubuhan BIM Malaysia (PBM) and the British Standards Institution (BSI), the competition was designed to assess organisational readiness in implementing ISO 19650 across complex, multidisciplinary projects. Participants were challenged to demonstrate structured digital delivery strategies, team and supply chain alignment, and effective information management across the project lifecycle.

The competition attracted 25 participating companies, comprising 18 teams from Malaysia and seven teams from Indonesia, reflecting strong regional interest and cross-border engagement in standardised digital construction practices. Following a structured assessment process, six teams advanced to the finals, where entries were evaluated on BIM leadership, practical application, innovation, and clarity of digital execution.

At the conclusion of the competition, Hutama Karya from Indonesia emerged as the overall winner, recognised for its comprehensive approach to integrated BIM implementation and effective application of ISO 19650 principles.

The award presentation ceremony for the PBM–BSI BIM Competition 2025 will be held during the JKR BIM Day Gala Dinner on 1 October, providing a platform to formally recognise the winning team and celebrate industry excellence in digital construction.
