BIM Trail 2024

Hands-on, high-impact BIM training hit the East Coast as over 140 project players sharpened their skills for smarter JKR delivery.

The BIM Trail held on 26 & 27 June 2024 at Hotel Grand Puteri, Kuala Terengganu provided valuable insights into Building Information Modelling (BIM) practices for industry players from Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang. The event was jointly organised by the BIM Unit of JKR Malaysia, Pertubuhan BIM Malaysia (PBM), and Autodesk, and aimed to deepen understanding of BIM implementation among JKR representatives, contractors, and consultants involved in government projects.

The two-day programme featured hands-on workshops covering Architecture, Structure, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Infrastructure (Road & Highway Design), helping participants better grasp the BIM deliverables required in JKR projects. The Terengganu edition attracted 147 participants.

This event formed part of the larger JKR BIM Trail series held across five states from May to September 2024, covering strategic zones in Pulau Pinang, Terengganu, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak. Across all six zones, the programme collectively welcomed around 700 participants.

Participant feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many affirming that the programme is highly relevant and should be continued. It has proven effective in improving participants’ understanding, knowledge, and technical skills in BIM implementation.

PBM extends its heartfelt thanks to all parties involved, especially the BIM Unit of JKR Malaysia, for their commitment to leading this important initiative. It is hoped that the BIM Trail will continue to strengthen BIM competency across the country in support of high-quality digital project delivery.
